The IRS recommends that all taxpayers sign up for their online account at irs.gov. If you have not already done so, I recommend that you do.  It makes it that much easier to view your account balances, verify payments have been posted, and view your tax return and income transcripts. If you already have an ID.me account login, this is what you will use to establish your IRS account.

The IRS also recommends taxpayers obtain an Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN).  The link is below.  This PIN will be issued by the IRS annually via a letter to the taxpayer.  I will need this PIN to e-file your returns, so if you do obtain one, please keep me informed. 

Good News!  Pending signature by the President, both the House and Senate have voted to eliminate the Social Security windfall provisions that reduce Social Security benefits for taxpayers with pensions from government employment (teachers, firefighters, police officers).
